Carolinas Lathing & Plastering Contractors Association Convention was held October 15 – 17, 2009 at the Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina.

CLAPCA recently exhibited at SAR 2009 in Greenville, South Carolina on September 30th through October 3rd.

CLAPCA was pleased to be one of the many sponsors at this years Triad AIA Golf Tourney.  In these pictures you'll see Pete Fala Of CJM&W architects (golf coordinator) giving the rules, thanking sponsors (CLAPCA), and telling the crowd that they have met their goal, through sponsor participation, They will be able to provide two $2000.00 architectural school scholarships (1 to UNCC, 1 to NCSU).  You'll also see our own Pete Stewart teeing it up!  Lastly, Pete Fala hands out the rewards for the winners in the tournament.

Our team was not one of the winners, I guess those in our business just don't have enough time to get good at golf!

May 14th, 2009 - Our Spring meeting was held May 14th at the Renaissance Charlotte Suites Hotel - Charlotte, NC.

May 13, 2009 - Charlotte, NC -The Spring CLAPCA Board meeting was productive and fun.  It's always good to get this group of industry professional together to discuss and provide direction for the needs of our business within the Carolinas.  Dinner and a long evening meeting produced great unity and planning for CLAPCA's future.

You should not have missed this one.  A great time was had by all.

CLAPCA members enjoyed great weather and great fun on the links.  There are more stories to come, but you can trust there were more memories made than birdies.  Watch the CLAPCA website for other opprtunities to get together and network.

Built using a mixture of HTML and ColdFusion programs, the new website is designed to be simple, stylish and easy to navigate. It sets out the association's vision through a mixture of images and editorial information in a multitude of sections.

The new website provides a review of the Carolina Lathing and Plastering Contractors Association's core activities as well as a vehicle to quickly disseminate information to it's members.

The website contains details of the association's board of directors including Charlie Smoak - Chairman of the Board, Pete Stewart - President, and Vice President - Todd Keel. It also features links from some of the association's sponsors.

May 1st, 2009 - CLAPCA creates a Facebook Group to encourage community within its association.

Facebook is a social utility that connects people with friends and others who work, study and live around them. People use Facebook to keep up with friends.

CLAPCA will use Facebook to assist in networking, promoting discussion forums, and communicating news, meetings and other events.

One thing you do need to know, you must sign up for your own Facebook to access CLAPCA's Facebook.  However, it is FREE and as you start asking around you'll be amazed how many of your family members, friends, and co-workers are already using this fun tool.

Since 1996, CLAPCA has been in the forefront of defending our industry from assault by groups that sought to end the use of Class PB E.I.F.S. in the Carolinas.  Now, nearly 12 years later and nearing the 40th anniversary of the introduction of E.I.F.S. in North America, our future is bright.  Our industry is healthy, and our association is moving forward.

CLAPCA is now uniquely positioned to promote our industry in the Carolinas.  The recent D.O.E. study proves E.I.F.S. to be the wall system capable of addressing the energy concerns of our future.  While the brick industry realizes the short comings of their walls systems, E.I.F.S. is positioned to possibly be the "Green" wall system of the future.  The recent I.C.C. approval of I.R.C. validates E.I.F.S. for inclusion in the 2009 I.B.C. and I.R.C. validates E.I.F.S. and recognizes it among other more traditional wall systems by removing it as an "alternate to the code" and placing it on the equal footing with other wall claddings.
